Certificate (Federal aid eligible if certificate is combined with Associate of Science degree, Associate of Applied Science degree, or Bachelor of Applied Science degree. Not eligible for federal aid as a stand-alone certificate.)
Overview
This certificate is designed to leverage foreign language skills acquired during missionary experience into practical business acumen. Upon completion of a language proficiency exam for non-native speakers in any of the following languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, or Mandarin, students will be granted 12 exam credits. Students will then enroll in a four-credit course designed to enhance their ability to conduct business in their chosen language. The primary benefit is to enhance a student’s marketability in a globalized world. The business language courses help refine and develop the necessary language skills to communicate and conduct business effectively.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the certificate, successful graduates will be able to:
- Validate non-native language skills
- Communicate and conduct business effectively in a non-native language
- Develop business vocabulary and context in a non-native language and culture
- Demonstrate language proficiency in diverse business settings

Successful completion of language proficiency exam, Language Proficiency Exam, 12 credits
BUS 360R, Business Language (Language specific section), 4 credits
Graduation Requirements
1. Minimum of 16 total semester credit hours as outlined
2. Grade of C- or higher in Business Language course
**The Business Language Certificate is an exception to the Residency Graduation requirement as students complete 4 non-test credits towards the certificate rather than 6.
