BUS 295 Business Strategy Fundamentals
This course dives into strategic business management and the methods for building and maintaining competitive advantage, covering deliberate versus emergent strategies, strategic thinking, and internal and external analyses using frameworks like SWOT, VRIO, and Porter’s 5 Forces. A group mastery project allows students to analyze a public company’s strategic challenges, apply course concepts to real-world business scenarios, and present their findings in a final project. The course also includes an interactive business simulation, where students make strategic decisions to compete for profits and market share, gaining hands-on experience in a controlled environment. Beyond business strategy, students reflect on core personal values and create a gospel-centered life strategy, thinking beyond career goals to craft a personal roadmap for lasting personal and spiritual growth. This class may require curricular practical training (CPT) authorization for international students. Students should consult with their instructor and the international student office for further guidance.
