ART 305 Global Cultural Literacy

The aim of this course is to deeply comprehend the significant aspects of cultural identity. To accomplish this task, students explore the creative methods and output of various historical and contemporary cultures across the globe, including music, visual art, theater, and literature. While this examination is enlightening, it merely functions as a doorway into the less-observable aspects of culture, including thought patterns, values, traditions, beliefs, and perceptions. Students will develop the vocabulary to discuss and appreciate these various cultural identities—especially those that are distinct from their own—to more successfully navigate an evermore culturally diverse environment. Additionally, students will produce and defend their own contribution to this intercultural narrative that identifies their own cultural customs and values.
